Well… Ryker Went Through A Little Pre-Op… And Then He Was Carted Off…
We Sat In The Cafeteria… We Walked Around The City… We Ate Lunch… We Walked Around The City… We Sat In The Waiting Room… We Walked Around The City… Etc. Etc.. Etc…
Every Few Hours… One Of The Nurses Would Call Danielley To Give UpDates On What Whats Going On/Where They Were At With Ryker’s Procedure…
We Never Received A “Bad” Or “Scary” Call/Notification!!!
Everytime It Was… “He’s Doing So Great”… “Everything Is Going According To Plan”… “We’re Right On Schedule”…
Roughly 9 Hours Later… We Got The Call That “It Was Done!!!”
They Had Told Us That From The Time They Closed His Chest Up… We Would Still Have To Wait An Hour To See Him As They Were Finishing Up Last Touches & Moving Him From The Surgery Room To The ICU…
They Told Us That His Surgeon… Dr. Emani… Would Come Out To Talk To Us & Just BreakDown The Surgery…
So We’re Just Sitting In The Waiting Room… Longest Hour Ever… Everytime The Door Opened We Would Jump Up To See If It Was Dr. Emani…
Finally… Dr. Emani Walked Through The Doors… Myself… Daniellety… And Danielley’s Mom Were The Only People Left In The Waiting Room… He Explained Everything That Went On During The Surgery… And He Explained It With Confidence!!!
Now… It Should Be Noted… That… Everytime We Met With Ryker’s Team The Days Prior To Surgery… Not That They Weren’t Confident… But They Did Inform Us Numerous Times Of The… “What Ifs”… All The Different Scenarios That Could Come Up & What Their Plans Were To Fix “X” Scenario… Kinda Scary…
There Was Literally Nothing “Bad” To Say…
He Informed Us That It Would Be Just A Few More Mins Before We Could See Him…

But Honestly… From His Past 2 Surgeries… Danielley & I Were Expecting Our Lil’ Man To Look A Lot Worse…
EVERYONE!!! All The Drs. & All The Nurses… Said How Good He Did During The Surgery & How Good He Looks After The Surgery… And That All His Vitals Were Perfect!!!
But… We We’re Not Out Of The Woods Yet…
Now… This Lil’ Man Needed To Rest & Begin Recovering…
They Kept Him Sedated Thursday Night & Even Though 1 Parent Is Allowed To Stay The Night… They Suggested That We Both Go Home & Rest…
So We Did…
Friday Morning… Woke Up & Headed Back To The Hospital…
He Was Still Sedated When We Got There… Occaisionally Opening Up His Eyes For A Few Seconds…
But Still… All The Nurses Were In Awe Of Him & How Well He Was Doing…
He Remained Sedated All Morning… All Day… All Afternoon…
Then Friday Night Came… 2130… (9:30PM…)
A Few Hours/Mins Before 2130… The Drs./Nurses Decided That Ryker Was Doing Well Enough To Get That Freakin’ Breathing Tube Out Of Him.. (Extubate… The Removal of the Endotracheal Tube…)
It Is The Final Step In Liberating A Patient From Mechanical Ventiltation…
They Said Ryker Might Cry… Try To Scream… Freak Out Basically…
NOTHING!!!
A Little Whimper… And That Was It…
